How to Customize Soccer Jerseys

    • 1). Add numbers and letters to the jersey. Heat your iron to the temperature suggested by the manufacterer of the iron-ons. Often, they call for the iron to be turned to high or a setting for cotton without steam. Some of these items will have a cloth coating that will have to be peeled off after the number or letter is ironed into place. Be sure the item is cool before peeling off the protective cloth. Carefully read all the package directions before beginning.
Place the selected number in the center of the back of the jersey. Iron in place according to the directions. Arrange the letters of the player's last name above the number and iron into place. Longer names may need to be curved above the number to fit.

    • 2). Add trim to the cuffs of the sleeves. Cut four, 4-inch wide strips of material in your secondary team color. Measure around the end of the sleeve, then add one inch to get the necessary length of your strips. Fold a 1/2-inch seam on each side of your strips and sew in place. Sew the seamed strips just above the end of each jersey sleeve to form stripes. Use the same procedure to add trim to the neckline.

    • 3). Add a stripe to the jersey. Measure across the chest area of the jersey from side seam to side seam, then add one inch to the measurement. Using this measurement, cut a six inch wide strip of secondary colored material. Sew a 1/2-inch seam around the strip. Sew the material across the chest of the jersey from side seam to side seam. Use the same procedure to add either vertical or horizontal stripes.

    • 4). Sew your team logo to the top left front or top right front of the jersey. If you do not have a team logo, you can order them in the form of patches from a local uniform store, or have them embroidered onto the jerseys.
