What Can You Expect From Riding Holidays In France? It All Depends On What You Make Of It

A question that comes back again and again when people book any type of holiday is €what can I expect?€. Well, the reality is that you can expect as much as what you put into your holiday yourself. Naturally, this is presuming that you book a holiday that is of good quality, but again, it is your responsibility to scour the market and find a holiday that is of good quality. Once you have found that, it is your own job to make sure you enjoy your holiday. Holidays can provide you with entertainment, but you have to make it enjoyable. This is the same with riding holidays in France. Let's take a look at how it can be awesome, and how you can completely ruin it yourself.

The Accommodation

If you have looked into riding holidays in France, you will probably have noticed that they are generally based in secluded little villages, often in old farm houses. These locations are quaint and beautiful. The buildings you will stay in are generally old, but very comfortable. You can make this fantastic by enjoying your surroundings, enjoy the fact that you feel like you have stepped back in time a hundred years, and enjoying the creaking and character of an old building. Or, you can ruin it for yourself and nag that the d©cor is too old fashioned, there isn't a nightclub nearby or that the floorboards creak when you walk all over them.

The Countryside

Again, what you can expect is hills, greenery and fields of grapes, corn and sunflowers. You can stop anywhere along these fields and find bushes of fresh brambles and raspberries. You can enjoy this by having a foraging picnic, picking beautiful flowers and enjoying the wildlife, or you can ruin it by nagging about the insects and the fact that brambles have thorns.

The Horses

It is a horse riding holiday, so it is important to consider the horses. You can expect to have to help clean out stables, wash your horse and maintain your saddle and rains. You can make this fun by understanding that you are learning how to care for an animal and build a real bond with that animal. Or you can nag because you got hay in your hair, snapped a nail or generally don't like to get mucky.
As you can see, what you can expect from a horse riding holiday is pretty stagnant. You can expect peace and quiet, you can expect culture and quaintness, you can expect relaxation, you can expect to get a bit dirty. Whether this means you will have the best or the worst holiday of a lifetime depends completely on your own attitude.
