Causes And Effects Of Land Pollution

The problem in land pollution is a global concern.
Many people are often affected because any pollution in land can cause several problems such as illnesses or diseases, death and other health concern.
When we talk of pollution in general, we can mean about water pollution, air pollution and land pollution.
Land pollution is often caused by several things.
Those things will be clearly enumerated below.
1.
Growing population.
Since human population increases, agricultural lands are often transformed into residential areas.
Urbanization is one of the leading causes why fertile lands are often exploited.
Forests are often transformed into rest house areas and vacation spots.
More homes and buildings only mean more and more people need construction materials.
Trees suffer from this need.
2.
More people mean more domestic wastes.
The garbage dumped makes the land or the streets unhealthy.
Every day, garbage collectors collect tons and tons of waste materials from homes, offices and other business establishments.
Most of the waste materials include papers, plastics, left-over foods, Styrofoam, chemicals and many more.
The problem among people today is that they do not care about the environment.
If only each person know how to segregate their wastes materials, then we can have a healthy place to live in and no more land pollution in the community.
3.
No waste management programs in a certain community.
Under the waste management program, people are usually taught about the importance of segregating papers, plastics and other non-biodegradable materials from that of the biodegradable materials.
4.
Industrial activities can also add to land pollution.
Some of the samples of land pollution that most industrial companies do include deep mining pools, open cast mining, chemical spills and a lot more.
5.
Use of too many herbicides and pesticides may also pollute the soil.
Other pollutants came from nuclear waste disposal plants, animal farms, oil refineries, factories and many more.
There are a lot of negative effects of land pollution.
Some of them are clearly enumerated below.
1.
Crops cannot grow well.
When that happens, we can have scarcity of food crops.
2.
Cutting too many trees may cause deforestation, and the extermination of wild life.
3.
If the land, air and water are also polluted, acid rain is one of the negative effects.
4.
A filthy place can cause plaque and certain illnesses.
It may also cause certain birth defects among newborn babies.
5.
A certain community who does not follow a waste management program often ends up having a filthy environment.
A junk removal or junk hauling company must be hired to collect waste materials.
