How to Make a Favor Box
- 1). Draw a 2-inch square in the center of the lightweight cardboard. Attach to one side of the square three more 2-inch squares for a total of four squares. The total outside measurement is a rectangle of 2 inches wide by 8 inches long. Each square is a side of your favor box. From left to right, mark each square 1, 2, 3 and 4. Attach to square No. 4 a 1/2-inch-wide by 2-inch-long tab. This tab will connect square No. 1 with square No. 4 when the box is folded.
- 2). Attach a 2-inch square to the the bottom of square No. 2. Attach a 1/2-inch-wide by 2-inch-long tab to the bottom edge of this square. Attach to the top of square No. 4 a 2-inch square. Attach to the top edge of this square a 1/2-inch-wide by 2-inch-long tab. These squares and tabs are the top and bottom to your favor box.
- 3). Attach a 1-inch-wide by 2-inch-long rectangle to the top and bottom of square No. 1. Attach to the top and bottom of square No. 2 a 1-inch-wide by 2-inch-long rectangle. These rectangles are your favor box flaps that will fit inside the box.
- 4). Cut out the favor box shape. Taper each short side of each tab and flap at an angle.
- 5). Draw a straight dotted line along each attachment line that was made to your favor box template. These are your score-line guides.
- 1). Lay your patterned card stock wrong-side up on your table. Place the favor box template on the card stock and draw around the edge. Cut out the card stock.
- 2). Score a fold line along every part of the card stock that matches the dotted guidelines on the favor box template, using the ruler and bone folder.
- 3). Fold the favor box on every scored fold line. Apply double-stick tape to the right side of the tab on the end of square No. 4. Fold squares 1, 2, 3 and 4 and attach the tab to the inside of square No. 1. Fold down the flaps on one end of the box. Fold down the square on that same end, inserting the tab into the favor box. Turn the box over and repeat for the other end of the box.
