How to Clean Kitchen Aid Dryer Lint
- 1). Clean the lint filter before every use. If you have a front-loading dryer, open the door and locate the filter near the back of the drum. If it is not there, check the area just inside the door. If you cannot find the lint filter, check your dryer's user manual for the location.
- 2). Use your hands or a lint brush to remove lint from the filter. KitchenAid sells a long, thin, dryer lint brush. Another alternative is to use a vacuum with a thin tube attachment (or a handheld vacuum) to remove lint. Replace the lint filter, and use the dryer as you would normally.
- 3). Soak the filter in warm, soapy water periodically to dislodge stubborn dirt and to help remove any buildup from the use of dryer sheets. Use the lint brush to scrub the filter gently to remove any dirt. When finished, thoroughly rinse the filter with clean water, and put it aside until it is completely dry. Once it is dry, put it back in its slot in the dryer.
- 4). Clean the vent system if your lint filter contains no lint, but clothes are not drying by the end of a cycle. Also consider cleaning the system if there is a slight burning smell coming from the dryer. Unplug the dryer, and unhook the hose. Use the lint brush or your vacuum to clean the inside of the hose. Clean the other parts of the venting system as necessary. Sweep or vacuum the area around the dryer. When finished, reattach the hose, and plug in the dryer. If doing this does not solve the problem, it is possible that lint could have accumulated around the dryer drum. Contact a repairman to service the dryer.
