How to Use a Sound Mixing Board
- 1). Connect your audio device to the sound mixing board. If you are using an instrument this is a 1/4-inch cable, while if you are using a microphone it is an XLR cable. Connect the cable into the "Out" port on the audio device, then plug it into an "In" port, directly above one of the audio channels at the top of the mixing board.
- 2). Connect the RCA audio cables into the "Audio Out" port on the sound mixing board. Insert the opposite end of the cables into the "Audio In" connection on the audio receiver. The audio receiver sends the audio signal to the speakers and plays the adjusted audio.
- 3). Press the "Power" button on the mixing board. This is usually found on the side so it isn't easily powered down by accident.
- 4). Increase the volume of each channel with the sliding volume control at the bottom of each audio channel. Fully mute a channel by pressing the "Mute" button located next to the volume control.
- 5). Adjust the bass, pan and treble with the knobs directly above the volume control. Each knob is marked so you know exactly what it controls. The bass is the low frequency audio in of the channel while the treble is the high frequency volume. The pan controls if the audio plays through the left, right or both audio speakers.
- 6). Increase or decrease the overall volume of all the connected audio with the volume control knobs on the right side of the mixing board.
