    Size and Battery Life

    • The iPhone 4 measures 4.5 inches tall, 2.31 inches wide and 0.37 inches thick at its thickest point. It weighs 4.8 oz. before optional accessories and upgrades. The LG Chocolate is smaller and lighter, measuring 3.8 inches tall, 1.88 inches wide and 0.69 inches thick at its thickest point. It weighs 3.5 oz. before optional upgrades and accessories. A built-in 1,420-mAh lithium-polymer battery provides the iPhone 4 with up to seven hours of talk time per charge on 3G networks. An 800-mAh lithium-polymer battery provides the LG Chocolate with a maximum of 3.5 hours of talk time on 3G networks.

    Displays and Cameras

    • The iPhone features a 3.5-inch, fingerprint-resistant Multi-Touch display with a native resolution of 960 by 640 pixels. The LG Chocolate has a much smaller, 1.8-inch TFT display with a native resolution of 240 by 320 pixels. The Chocolate's screen doesn't have touch-screen capabilities. Apple equips the iPhone 4 with two integrated digital cameras. The primary camera is rear-facing and features a 5-megapixel sensor, LED flash, tap-to-focus support and high-definition 720p video recording functionality. The iPhone’s secondary camera is front-facing and intended for VGA-quality video calls. LG outfits the Chocolate with a single rear-facing digital camera with a 1.3-megapixel sensor, 2X digital zoom and 176-by-144-pixel video recording capability.

    Cellular and Wi-Fi

    • Both phones run on 2G GSM and 3G CDMA networks. When transferring data, the LG Chocolate uses 1xEV-DO rev.0 technology, allowing it to transfer at speeds up to 2.5 megabits per second. The iPhone 4 uses slightly more advanced 1xEV-DO rev.A technology, allowing it to transfer data at speeds up to 3.1Mbps. The iPhone 4 has built-in 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi support and the ability to function as a Wi-Fi hot spot. The LG Chocolate doesn’t have native Wi-Fi capabilities.

    Additional Differences

    • Apple sells the iPhone 4 with either 16GB or 32GB of hard drive space. It doesn’t have a memory card slot for storage expansion. The LG Chocolate has just 68MB of onboard storage space, but it has a microSD memory card slot compatible with cards up to 2GB in size. The iPhone 4 has Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR support, while the Chocolate has Bluetooth 1.1. Both devices connect to computers via USB ports.
