Rainy Day Wedding Portrait Ideas

    Gazebo

    • Stand in a garden or park gazebo with your sweetheart, looking out at the rainy landscape, for a wedding portrait that will evoke the coziness of a solid relationship and the classic Bob Dylan sentiment about a lover being a "shelter from the storm."

    Umbrellas

Pose in front of your wedding venue, standing in the rain under umbrellas -- or a single, large umbrella. Your facial expressions and the types of umbrellas you use will determine whether an umbrella portrait looks lighthearted, romantic or ultra-playful. For example, if one member of the couple is mid-laugh under a kids' green "frog" umbrella and the other member is grinning under a ladybug umbrella, the wedding portrait will come out whimsical. If, on the other hand, the wedding portrait is shot in sepia with the bride under a lacy parasol-style umbrella and the groom in a top hat and sporting a black umbrella, the portrait will look elegant and old-fashioned.

    Puddle Jumping

Throw the convention of the static, posed-looking wedding portrait out the window and have your photographer snap a lively shot of you and your beloved hopping over or playing in the puddles. This approach to a rainy day wedding portrait works especially well if the bride is wearing a tea-length wedding dress or if neither member of the couple is too concerned about keeping the wedding attire pristine. A puddle jumping wedding portrait would suit a casual farmhouse wedding or a garden wedding.
