Water vs Soda
When I first met my sweetie, he was keeping the soda machine at work running 90 to nothing.
I had no idea.
The quest for health had been part of my life for over 10 years by the time I met him.
Obviously, as we grew closer, I started to notice how health was NOT part of his life.
Even to the point that, gasp, he was taking a medication for his cholesterol! When I tried to talk with him about the medical side of life vs wellness side of life, he said, "You make it sound like a conspiracy!" Well...
yeah, it is! Prescription medications are BIG business.
I decided to take it slow and ease him into health by starting him off with drinking water.
You woulda' thought I'd completely lost my mind! "I hate the taste of water! I drink soda.
There's water in soda".
Sharing information about water from several different sources, medical and alternative, helped him understand the health benefits of water.
Actually following through and drinking it was another matter all together, and WHY isn't the water in soda good enough? Well, it would be, if it weren't for the phosphorous that leeches calcium from your bones.
Not to mention, well, o.
k.
I'll mention, the chemical additives for sweetening and coloring.
Plus, the caffeine in some of the more popular ones (yes, he did the dew) completely negates the water because you get rid of it all (plus some).
It takes 1 1/2 cups of water to replace 1 cup of a caffeinated drink! That didn't go over well at all! We decided he would drink ONE GLASS of water with a basic liquid foundational supplement to start.
Guess what? That was the catalyst! With the added nutrition, he actually started to crave water and had more energy.
In addition to that, he started to lose weight.
Over the next couple months, adding essential fatty acids and a prostate support supplement rounded out his regimen.
He told his doctor he was quitting the cholesterol medicine and wanted his level monitored with his next checkup.
The next time he went for a checkup (to a Naturopath), his lab values were improved, including a normal cholesterol level.
Water lubricates, hydrates, and is essential for the body to function.
Here's just ONE tiny thing to think about.
Your kidney functions AT THE CELLULAR LEVEL to eliminate some waste products, including toxins, from the body.
Water carries those wastes and toxins out.
If it's not carried out, it's stored.
Storing toxins and wastes leads to fatigue, illness, and finally...
chronic disease.
The accepted STANDARD of how much water to drink is 8 oz.
per day for the normal weight healthy individual.
Drink an additional 8 oz.
for every 25 lbs over weight.
Drink water in place of snacking.
Drink more water for fever.
The only time you don't drink a lot of water is with your meals.
Your body relies on its own enzymes to digest food.
Water (and other drinks) will dilute those digestive enzymes, leading to acidity and gas.
