How often you clean your carpet depends on how dirty it is.
With the increase in the amount of dust and pollution, it is imperative to clean the carpets at least once a week because by this time the rug gets dirty enough.
Rug beater can be used when the amount of dust on the carpet is less.
But the main disadvantage with this method is that, there is every possibility of the dust beaten out of the rug getting settled back on it, hence making the whole effort of cleaning futile.
Vacuum cleaning the carpets is considered the best method.
Cleaning the carpet with a vacuum cleaner removes most of the dust and does not make the surrounding area dusty too.
Vacuum cleaning the surface of the rug once in every three days ensure a minimum level of dust on its surface giving the rug a clean feel.
And then depending on the amount of dirt, stains and usage of the rug, it can be washed once in three or four months.
A rug should never be washed with strong corrosive detergents.
A mild shampoo or dish washer diluted in lot of water is suitable for the purpose.
Soft bristled brush are recommended to be used.
