Download a media player that supports MP4. Quicktime is an example of a popular media player that supports MP4 files.

Install the media player by following the installation steps that appear on the screen. Generally, these steps include any customization of features, and where you want to store the program on the computer.

Open the media player.

Select “File” from the toolbar.

Click “Open.”

Find the MP4 file you wish to view, select it, then click “Open.” If the file doesn't play automatically, hit the “Play” button to view it.
