How to Pack Plants in a Suitcase
- 1). Water the plant normally two days before you plan to pack it into the suitcase. This ensures that the plant receives necessary moisture, also allowing the soil to dry sufficiently to eliminate messes in the suitcase.
- 2). Place sheets of newspaper over the top of the soil to prevent the soil from escaping from the pot. Tape the newspaper in place onto the container with the duct tape to hold it securely.
- 3). Wrap the old sheet around the entire plant and pot to protect the foliage. Wrap bubble wrap around the plant over the sheet to add another padded layer around the stems and leaves of the plant. Tape the bubble wrap securely with the duct tape.
- 4). Place the plant into the box, close the box and tape it closed tightly. The box will protect the plant from temperature extremes and breakage.
- 5). Place the box into the suitcase so that the plant will be right side up while the suitcase is in an upright position. Add other clothing items to the suitcase surrounding the box to help keep the box from moving in the suitcase.
