How to Color in a Scanned Drawing Using PaintShop
- 1). Click the "File" menu from the top bar and choose "Open" to browse your computer for the scanned drawing file.
- 2). Double-click the drawing to load it into PaintShop Pro.
- 3). Click the "View" menu, select "Palettes," then click "Layers." This will open the Layers palette.
- 4). Click the "New Raster Layer" button on the Layers palette. This will create an invisible layer floating above the background, which is your drawing line work.
- 5). Click the "Blend Mode" drop-down menu and select "Multiply." This will allow you to paint on top of your drawing without covering over the lines.
- 6). Select a coloring tool from the toolbar on the left, such as the "Paint Brush," "Air Brush" or "Ink Pen." You can use the tool settings to change the size, shape, hardness and opacity of the coloring tool.
- 7). Select the color that you would like to use from the color palette.
- 8). Click and drag your mouse across your scanned drawing to color with the PaintShop Pro brush. Your line work will darken under the strokes, allowing you to see the drawing through the color.
- 9). Click the "Layers" menu, then select "Merge" and choose "Merge All (Flatten)" to flatten all of your layers once you are finished coloring your drawing.

Save the changes to your new colored drawing. You may wish to save this as a file with a different name so that you can keep your original drawing file on your computer.
