Landscape Design Features For Unique Living

There are a number of places where you can find a landscape design that suits your fancy such as gardening magazines, landscape magazines, or on-line. You have some ideas in your head regarding a landscape design that will allow you to do all the things you want for entertaining and just for relaxing with your family and you do not want it to look like anyone else's yard.

Your backyard landscaping ideas should remain simple and not turn into a major undertaking. There are designs that are actually created to be low maintenance. Some ideas will create privacy for meditating, reading, or even for taking a nap. If you are thinking about adding a swimming pool or already have one do not forget to install a fence around it for the safety of others and your family. Other areas of your yard can be fenced off for yard games. A 'fence' can be planted by using bushes or hedges. You can create butterfly gardens, trees and birdfeeders that will attract birds, or place yard decorations such as fountains or statuary in an area for relaxing. You can create several areas of your yard connected by pathways that can be used for different activities.

You want to have your very own retreat that reflects your life style that is low maintenance, and does not look like your neighbor's yard. You want this retreat to almost take care of itself so that when you are on vacation you will not have to worry about it. A low maintenance yard is also considered a drought tolerant yard; you do not have to give it much water to survive. Your pathways can be made of pebbles or you can place brick or cement pavers with low level ground cover intermingled that does not require much water. A conversation area can be created by placing outdoor carpeting that is basically maintenance free, except for sweeping occasionally, underneath your garden furniture.

Herbs can be grown in containers or in raised beds that can be moved around the garden or patio for convenience. Flowers can be growing in hanging baskets that hang from the eaves of your home or from poles and stakes placed in the garden. This will add color to the areas that are used for reading or meditating.

If you require more privacy and do not want to have a regular fence, create a living or natural fence by planting trees that grow tall and slender, tall bushes or hedges, or use flowering vines on lattice work that will give you color at the same time. Do not forget to use regular fencing around your pool area for safety. Regular fencing can also be used around game areas to protect visitors to your yard that are not participating in those games; this fencing will also protect your garden from the sports and games equipment.

A natural or living fence can be created of bushes and hedges to create a get-away area for meditating or reading. Flowers can also be planted around the inside of the natural fence for color. The type of furniture used can designate what that particular are is used for such as a comfortable lounge chair for reading or napping, a bistro table and two chairs for an intimate meal, or a fountain and comfortable chair just for relaxing.

A fire pit can be placed in the backyard for relaxing on a cool evening or for roasting marshmallows with the children. An umbrella and table can be placed on a deck for playing cards, or a picnic table for eating or playing board games. These are only a few backyard landscaping tips that can be used for creating your particular landscape design.
