How to Identify an Unknown Pill

    • 1). Go to the Drugs.com Pill Identifier, the RxList Pill Identification Tool or the Web MD Pill Identification Tool site, all linked in Resources.

    • 2). Look at your pill or capsule and find the identification code. This code will consist of number and/or letters and helps identify the pill.

    • 3). Enter the pill's identification code into the provided space on the website.

    • 4). Choose the pill's color and shape from the drop-down menus provided on the website and hit, "search."

    • 5). The website will search its database to find the matching criteria. When it has identified your pill, you can read more information about it, what it's generally prescribed for, its side effects, and what the pill may interact with in the drug information section provided on the website.
