The Glycemic Food Index List and Diabetic Foods

Motive, motive, can you say motive anyone? If you live in the United States, you reside in a capitalistic society.
The real motive for any company is money.
How much will food processors really tell you about the things that are in their foods? Do they really care about your health and well being? In my opinion, no they do not.
This is because they are seeking financial gain.
Foods that are advertised as diabetic are advertised for the purpose of helping people with diabetes to control their situation.
I don't think this is true.
It does not matter how much you change the chemicals.
In the market, when thinking about diabetics, foods are being promoted as not having sugar, sugar not added or sugar is lower.
Let's examine a few of these types of foods and what they have in them.
Ice cream and candy without sugar added labels are not honest.
They can place no sugar added on the labels if sugar was not added to the item.
However, these items must contain some type of sweetness.
When you see the label you will find that a lot of these products have high fructose corn syrup or sucrose.
Although these items do not have sugar on the labels, they have alcohol sugars.
An alcohol sugar will not raise the blood glucose as quickly as real sugar; but, it is still a huge issue when it comes to glycemic reaction.
It responds in the same manner as a complex carb.
If you have diabetes like me, then you might have a sweet tooth.
For a very long time, I was thinking that it was okay to give in to my sweet tooth with desserts that claimed to be no sugar added desserts.
They have calories just like most other foods and if you eat them without limiting yourself, it will make you pack on the pounds.
With many diabetics, the alcohol sugars work like laxatives and cause diarrhea if you eat too much of these desserts.
Sugar free soda and other such types of sugar free drinks with no sugar added to them use sugar free items that are bad for you.
Ensure that you look at the labels for things such as sodium that will raise your blood pressure level and caffeine which can initiate anxiety, heart palpitations and nervousness.
A few soda drinks have a huge level of acid that is difficult on your teeth enamel.
Also the caramel in these sodas can stain your teeth.
Instead, drink water according to your body weight.
Eating fat free desserts sound like something that most diabetics can eat.
But if the fat is not in the pastry, the processors have to make up for it by putting more sugar and carbs into the food to give it more taste or flavor.
The calorie count in these instances will be the same as regular pastries.
The result is that fat free pastries may have a little benefit for cholesterol levels.
So, eat half a portion of the regular pastry.
This might be better than eating an entire fat free pastry.
All in all, if you are diabetic or not, you should eat natural foods and plants just like our ancestors did.
This will ensure a better, healthier and longer life.
Using the Glycemic Food Index List to sort out the proper foods will keep you healthier and help control blood sugars.
