Tips on Writing Your First E Book - How to Turn Your Ebook Into an Audio Book
Creating an audio book from your eBook is an excellent way to repurpose your content.
It's inexpensive, easy and unlike most repurposing produces a quality product.
It's also not something that most information marketers think of.
In this article I'm going to show you step by step how to turn your eBook into an audio book.
The first question you need to ask is what equipment you will need.
The answer is a basic headphone, a computer and audio recording & editing software such as WavePad.
One word of warning is not to use a desktop or integrated microphone.
I don't have room for a technical explanation but these are the wrong type of microphone.
Now that you have the equipment, how do you create an audio book? You begin by plugging in the headphones and then starting up Wavepad.
There a number of screens but just read them and you'll be able to figure out what they are.
Generally you will want to take the default options in any case.
Once you've started Wavepad the first thing you will want to do is to test the setup.
After all, you really won't want to read the whole book only to find out that nothing was recorded.
So just start talking.
It doesn't matter what.
Nonsense will do.
After a few moments of recording stop the recording by clicking on the stop button.
Then hit play to make sure the recording worked.
If it did you are ready to go ahead with the real recording.
If not you'll have to do some investigation to identify what's wrong.
All set? So start Wavepad recording again.
Give it a moment and then start reading your eBook.
A good habit is to start by stating your book's title and author.
Another good habit is to introduce yourself.
When you do use the phrase "I am" rather than "My name is".
You'll come across as much more credible and confident.
While you are recording don't worry about mistakes.
Just start again at the beginning of the paragraph.
That way it will be easier to edit the audio recording.
Once you've finished making your recording you will need to save it to disk.
It's very frustrating to mess up the editing and realize that you don't have a clean copy.
So save your recording.
Once it's saved you can go on to edit the recording.
Wavepad has that facility.
The editing process will help to polish your recording.
Remove all errors.
Also remember to remove as much of the dead air (silence) as you can.
Now save the edited audio to another file.
You can save the file as an MP3 or WAV.
Saving it as an MP3 has an advantage in that you can use the same file for a download from your website.
A tool like Nero is necessary to copy and convert your MP3 to a CD playable in any player.
However, you can also download the file to a duplication service.
You service will explain how to submit the proper format.
Add the graphics and disc art and you have a professional looking audio book.
