How to File for an EIN in Pennsylvania
- 1). Log on to the IRS website to obtain a copy of Form SS-4, the form used to apply for an EIN. Complete the form using your business information, such as the type of business entity applying for the EIN, the name of the owners, the Pennsylvania address of the business and other details of the business required to fill out Form SS-4.
- 2). Mail your application form to:

EINs are mailed to Pennsylvania businesses once the application is received by the EIN Operation Department of the IRS and processed. - 3). Include your fax number on your application and fax your application to the IRS at 859-669-5760. Once the IRS receives your application via fax and processes the information, you will receive a reply fax with your new EIN.
- 1). Call the IRS at 800-829-4933 weekly from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. to apply for an EIN. Provide the IRS agent on the phone with answers to all of his business questions, and write down your EIN when he provides it for you.
- 2). Apply online by visiting the IRS website (IRS.gov). Fill out the online SS-4 application and submit it to the IRS. Your EIN will appear on your confirmation page. You may apply for an EIN online seven days a week. The online application is available Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 12:30 a.m., on Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Eastern time.
- 3). Print a copy of your confirmation page for your records.
