How to Lay Tile - Tools of the Trade

Before starting any home improvement project it is necessary to have the proper tools.
 Not only will it save you time but your overall project will turn out better.
 In this article I am going to breakdown the necessary tools needed for laying ceramic tile.
 They have been grouped into categories based on job function.
Safety Safety Glasses - Most important item you need when installing tile.
 You only get one set of eyes so be sure to protect them.
Knee pads - Your knees will take a punishment when laying ceramic tile.
 It's hard to understand the value until after your first day of not having them.
Layout Tools Chalk Line - Used when determining the tile floor layout.
 It is used to apply a straight line to follow when laying tile.
Measuring tape - Needed when determining the center of the room, also needed when cutting ceramic tile.
Tiling Tools Drill - Helps with mixing thin-set and grout.
 Besides a powerful drill you will also need a paddle.
Notched Trowel - This trowel is designed to lay the thin set.
 The notches provide an even distribution of thin set.
Grout Float - After laying ceramic tile this float will allow you to apply grout to the gaps in the tile.
 Hold it at angle to work the grout in between the tiles.
Tile Cutting Wet Saw - Tile saws can be expensive to purchase for a single job.
 This item should be available from your local tool rental store.
 If you have a large amount of tile to cut rent a saw to save yourself time and frustration.
Cleanup Bucket - Multiple buckets are need for the installation of tiles.
 You can use one to mix the thin set and grout and then another to hold water for cleanup.
Sponges - Used for cleaning the tiles during and after grouting.
These tools will definitely make tiling your floor, countertop, and bath much easier but you must use the tools correctly.
 The proper tools are only part of the equation you must also know how to lay ceramic tile.
