How do I Remove Viruses Rather Than Disinfecting Them?

    • 1). Open your anti-virus software.

    • 2). Open the program's "Tools," "Preferences" or "Options" menu and search for an "Automatically heal/remove virus" or "Automatically disinfect infected files" option. The exact verbiage will change depending on your anti-virus software.

    • 3). Disable the "Automatic heal/disinfect" option.

    • 4). Perform a system scan.

    • 5). Wait for the anti-virus software to detect a virus or other malware program and present you with removal options. Depending on the program, this may occur as soon as the virus is detected or when the system scan is complete.

    • 6). Select the deletion/removal option for any viruses you want to remove.

    • 7). Check to see if your program has a quarantine or vault section. Many anti-virus programs move deleted files to a vault rather than outright remove them.

    • 8). Select the option to delete all files currently in the vault or quarantined section to permanently remove any infected files.
