How to Change the Oil on a Featherlite Weedeater

    • 1). Find and disconnect the spark plug on the Featherlite weed eater. This will prevent the equipment from accidentally starting while you are servicing it and causing injuries.

    • 2). Place the weed eater on a flat surface, such as your driveway. Make sure the fuel tank cap is pointing upward. Unscrew the cap and empty any old oil mix fuel into a drain pan.

    • 3). Pour half a gallon of 87 octane gasoline into a thoroughly washed old milk jug. Add half of a 3.2-ounce bottle of 2-cycle engine oil. Screw the cap onto the jug and shake carefully to combine the fluids.

    • 4). Pour the oil fuel mix into the fuel tank of the weed eater. Repeat Step 3 using another half-gallon of gasoline and the rest of the oil. Add the additional fuel to the tank.

    • 5). Screw on the weed eater fuel tank cap securely. Reconnect the spark plug so the Featherlite weed eater will function. Test start the weed eater as you normally would to ensure it functions smoothly.
