How to Relieve Your Sore Throat
- 1). Rest and take it easy. If it hurts to talk or eat certain food, avoid doing so. Give your body a rest. Keep hydrated; drink as much as possible. If you have a stuffy nose, use nasal sprays to keep it clear so you won't have to breathe with your mouth.
- 2). Gargle the follwing: warm salt water. This isn't very pleasant, but because salt will cut phlegm and reduce reduce inflammation, it's very affective. You can also gargle raspberry leaf tea.
- 3). Drink the following: cider vinegar, lemon juice, lime juice, and other hot liquids. Make sure you dilute it with a lot of water and add honey (not sugar) to make it taste better.
- 4). Suck on the following: sugar-free candies, cough drops, and garlic. Yes, the last one is not very pleasant, but garlic contains allicin, a chemical that kills bacteria.
- 5). Take the following medicines: pain killers (Advil, Tylenol, Aleve), throat sprays (Chloroseptic), and gargle with Listerine. Pain killers do help relieve sore throat pains.
