    Beach Volleyball

    • Beach volleyball down in Santa Monica has been a long-standing institution for singles. Whether you play or just like to enjoy the surf, the party continues on into the night. Located right along the bike path, you can choose to bike or Rollerblade to the area. A very open, welcoming and low-key atmosphere, it is easy to mingle with those who are playing or taking a break from the action. For those truly interested in playing, different leagues are offered from as far north as Malibu to as far south as Redondo. League information is posted at each individual beach. (See Reference 4.)

    Highlife Adventure Club

    • Highlife Adventure Club is a singles club that does not plan matches, but gives you the opportunity to get to know singles through group activities. Everything from playing volleyball on the beach and taking rafting trips to hitting some of the local night clubs and wine tasting events. This group takes advantage of what the city has to offer by setting up exploration adventures in the L.A. area. With new activities constantly popping up, you can choose the events you are most interested in. Fees for the club vary based on the packages of activities offered.

    Religious Singles Options

    • With all the diversity in religion, you can also find denomination-specific singles organizations often hosting events around the L.A. area. There are groups belonging to the Christian Sect, Mormon faith, as well as Jewish organizations. All of these groups plan outings ranging from museum trips to group excursions to concerts and outdoor events. (See Reference 3.)

    Bar Scene

    • The bar scene has long been a favorite hangout for singles. In Los Angeles, you can find just about any type of bar from a coffee shop with poetry readings, to a comedy club, to a dive bar with a local band. The "LA Times" puts out a weekly calendar section that lists any special events, and is a great resource when it comes to discovering local community gatherings. (See Reference 1.)
