Pharmacy College Scholarships
- The University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio, offers several scholarship opportunities for students enrolled at the university's College of Pharmacy. These scholarships vary in amount depending on the student's academic record, year in school and demonstrated financial need. Although some UT pharmacy scholarships are available to students who have not filed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid, most scholarships require students to do so. Prospective students can apply online at UT's website. As of January 2011, the application deadline was March 31.
- The National Association of Chain Drug Stores Foundation operates the NACDS pharmacy student scholarship program. The program, which awarded 93 scholarships in 2009, selects winners based on academic achievement and career goals. As of January 2011, the program awards several $2,000 scholarships as well as $2,500, $3,000 and $5,000 grants. To be eligible for the NADCS scholarships, students must have completed at least one year of pharmacy school and must have a minimum of a "C" average.
- The American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education is a professional pharmacy organization based in Rockville, Maryland. The foundation offers the AFPE Gateway to Research Scholarship to academically-qualified undergraduate and graduate pharmacy students interested in pursuing degrees in pharmaceutical research. As of January 2011, AFPE issued up to 11 scholarships amounting to $5,000. Students wishing to apply for an AFPE scholarship must have completed two years or more of a pharmacy degree program, receive a nomination from a faculty member and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- The American Pharmacists Association Foundation offers several scholarships to academically-qualified students pursuing undergraduate degrees in pharmacy or related fields. As of January 2011, the APhA Foundation awarded nine scholarships of $1,000 each. To be eligible for the grant, students must be involved in their colleges' APhA chapter and must show potential to succeed in a career as a pharmacist. As of January 2011, the APhA scholarship application deadline is December 1.
