Understanding the Concept of Personalized Wedding Favors
This is a discussion we have to start by briefly acquainting ourselves with 'wedding favors' in general, before proceeding to explore the concept of personalized wedding favors. This is where the term 'wedding favors' simply turns out to be a reference to wedding gifts. Nowadays, a gift is a favor. Such is the 21st century evolution of the English language. Tell someone that you are shopping for a gift, and they may get the impression that you have been left behind by the evolution of the language. We don't really talk of gifts nowadays: we talk of favors. So what we used to call 'wedding gifts' before are now known as 'wedding favors.'
It would follow, then, that favors are actually what you would otherwise refer to as personalized wedding gifts.
There are several ways in which the 'wedding favor' personalization we are talking about is carried out. In some cases, it may be about emblazoning the names of the recipients on the gift items. At other times still, it may be about getting the gift items designed in a way which truly celebrates the recipients' personalities. Yet at other times, it may be about getting the gift items made in line with the theme of the wedding at which they are to be presented. Simply put, there are so many ways in which wedding favor personalization can be carried out. Anything which makes the wedding favors seem special (either for the couple to whom they are to be presented, or for the theme of the wedding at which they are to be presented) would qualify to be termed as 'personalization.'
The alternative to giving such personalized wedding gifts is simply to present what would be referred to as 'general' wedding gifts. If you just go to a bookstore, buy a book and present it to a wedding couple, it will be a general wedding gift. The same would apply, if you just went and purchased an electric cooker, a laptop, a nice ashtray, or anything else along those lines. But if, for instance, you buy an ashtray and then you get the recipients' names (as a couple) emblazoned on it, you convert it from being a general wedding gift, into a personalized wedding gift. It is through the emblazoning, in this case, that the personalization would have taken place.
Increasingly, people are showing a preference for the personalized wedding gifts (over general wedding gifts). There are several reasons for this. But ultimately, the popularity of the favors is based on the fact that such favors tend to send a stronger sense of appreciation to the recipients than the general wedding favors. If you send a couple favors, they know that you are probably gifting them from the bottom of your heart (as opposed to gifting them just because you are required to do so by social convention). If you send favors to a couple, you will also be sending them a strong message that you truly value them. This is likely to make them, as a couple, value you greatly as well. That way, the bond between you and them would grow much stronger - thanks, mainly to your opting to give them favors.
