Video: How to Make Hawaiian Decorations With Coffee Filters
Video Transcript
Hi, I'm Linda Hutchinson. Today, I'm going to show you how to make Hawaiian decorations using coffee filters. I took a coffee filter and I sprayed it with some paint a mixture that I made up of paint, rubbing alcohol and a little bit of eye shadow, believe it or not to give it a glimmer. You can buy ready made concoctions like this in craft stores but I made up my own. And I make them in different colors. This one I went ahead and sprayed with a little bit of purple and a little bit of blue to get the effect that I wanted. And then I made it in to a little flower and we're going to string these flowers together to make a lei. Which is a very well known Hawaiian decoration. Perfect for any kind of party, luau, etc. So I took the coffee filter, I spread it out and I sprayed it with the different paints. It's very subtle. Then what I'm going to do is just kind of gather it up like this and that's how you form the flower. And just kind of twist the end a little bit. Like that. Very simple little flower. You do that a whole bunch of them. Then you just go ahead and run a needle and thread through the base. Takes a little bit of effort to get it through there. And then put it through the next one. And you would go ahead and do as many as you need to get the desired length. And that's how you make a lei. And you just keep going around, knot it on top and you would have a lei which is a great Hawaiian decoration. You can do it in any kind of colors, however you'd like. My name is Linda Hutchinson and thank you so much for joining me. Bye bye.
