Blogspot Instructions
- 1). Log into Blogspot using your Gmail address and password. Create a new blog by clicking on the "Create a Blog" link. Add a name to your blog on the next page as well as its unique URL and click on the orange "Continue" arrow.
- 2). Choose a template from the options currently available. Note that you can always change the template or theme of your blog later on. Pick out a template for now and click "Continue."
- 3). Go to "blogger.com" once you're finished making your new blog and select it from the list under "Manage Blogs." Click on the "Design" link and then click on "Template Designer" at the top of the screen.
- 4). Edit your template by playing around with the various settings found on this page. You can also change your template to another of Blogspot's hosted themes if you like. Click on where it says "Layout" in the menu to the left and pick the design that best fits your needs. These layouts include one sidebar, two sidebars, their alignment as well as the footer you'd like your blog to have. Click the "Apply to Blog" button once you've finished.
- 5). Return to your blog's dashboard by clicking on the "Back to Blogger" link at the top of the screen and click on the "Settings" tab. Enter your blog's title and description in the fields available, answer the questions that follow and click the orange "Save Settings" button at the bottom of the page.
- 6). Click on the "Design" tab again to go to your "Page Elements" page. Here you can add "Widgets," move them around your design and even add a header image. Click on the "Edit" link in your "Header" area. Browse your computer for an image you'd like to use for your header or direct Blogspot to where the image is hosted online by pasting its URL address into the field available.
- 7). Change the appearance of your header image by telling Blogspot if you want it "Behind title and description," "Instead of title and description" or "Have description placed after the image." Click on "Shrink to fit" if your header image is larger than the space available. Click on the "Save" button once you've finished and then on "View Blog" at the top of your blog's dashboard. Preview your site and make changes when necessary.
