How to Shoot a Static Recurve
- 1). Get a friend to take the measurement between your chest and your hands when your hands are extended forward in front of the chest (arms straight out.) Add 4 inches to this measurement to find your best arrow length. Use this length of arrow with your static recurve bow.
- 2). Stand approximately 15 to 20 yards from your target. Put the finger guard onto the hand that draws the bow string back. Place the wrist guard on the opposite arm and slide it around so that the guard faces the bow and bow string.
- 3). Hold the bow perpendicular to the ground with the string facing up. Nock an arrow into the arrow nocks on the bow string (in the center of the string.) Bring the bow and arrow up to your side and stand sideways to the target.
- 4). Raise the bow and draw the string back. Push on the bow shaft while pulling back on the string. Bring your hand up to your jaw (string hand with the finger guards). Look down the arrow shaft and align it with the target. If there is crosswind, bring the bow and arrow slightly away from the target on the wind side to calibrate for the wind shift to the arrow.
- 5). Take a deep breath, hold the arrow on the string and then exhale and release the fingers off the string at the same time.
