How to Transport Bicycles in a Truck
- 1). Stand the bike in the middle of the truck bed. You can take a few tie-downs and wrap them around the bike and connect them into the truck bed's corner square holes. These holes are in each corner and the middle of both sides. They are pre-cut to allow a camper shell to be installed. Tie-down ropes are long elastic nylon ropes with a coiled hook on the end. These can be roughly 3 feet in length but stretch out to more than 6 feet.
- 2). Install a truck bed bike rack. This is a small device designed to hold up to four bikes. You simply take the device and lock it down into the truck bed using a bolt system. You will need to purchase the bolting connectors separately.
- 3). Position the bike in the middle of the truck. You can take four pieces of 6-feet rope and anchor the bicycle to the truck bed. You can tie down using all four corners of the truck bed edge or you can use the side rails.
- 4). You could also attach a towing trailer to the truck. You can position one or more bikes on the trailer and secure them safely with bike wheel locks. You can also install a bike rack onto the bed of the trailer and secure them with a bolting system. Be sure to connect the trailer lights to the truck's electrical system so they work when driving.
