Visitors can easily spend two or three days taking in the sights. Highlights include the 57-foot glass tunnel through the Shark Encounter habitat, and the many live shows featuring some of SeaWorld's star animal performers. Try to make it during one of the animal feeding times. When you are ready to feed yourself, beat the crowd by dining during a show performance.

The zoo strives to showcase animals in the most natural environment possible, and its many exhibits are best experienced on foot. A free guided bus tour runs throughout the day, giving a broad overview of the various areas of the zoo. Many of the animals who make their homes at the San Diego zoo are most active early in the day, so plan to arrive early and spend at least three or four hours wandering the park grounds.

The Wild Animal Park is different from other zoos, as it houses many species from Africa and Asia together in large enclosures similar to their natural habitats. Witness herding animals, like rhinos and giraffes, grazing together as they would in the wild, and get close to African lions at the lion camp. Plan to spend at least four hours in the park and remember to bring your sunscreen.
