Water

• The easiest and most natural method for thinning Liquid Paper is simply to use a couple of drops of water. Remove the cap from the bottle of Liquid Paper. Fill an eyedropper with warm water. Add one or two drops of water from the eyedropper to the bottle. Replace the cap and shake the bottle vigorously. Test the Liquid Paper on a piece of paper. If it's still too thick, repeat the process. If you don't have an eyedropper available, you can simply dip your finger in a cup of warm water and hold it over the opening of the bottle until one or two drops form and fall into the bottle. Clean the brush attached to the cap of the bottle of Liquid Paper for best results.
  
  

Fingernail Polish Remover

• You can use fingernail polish remover to thin Liquid Paper. Remove the cap from the bottle of Liquid Paper, fill an eyedropper with fingernail polish remover, and use the eyedropper to drop one or two drops of the fingernail polish into the bottle of Liquid Paper. Replace the cap and shake the bottle well. If you don't have an eyedropper, you can use your fingertip. Remember to wash your hands thoroughly after touching fingernail polish remover.
  
  

Acetone

• You can use acetone, which is commonly used as pain thinner, to thin Liquid Paper. Use the same process you would if you were using water or fingernail polish -- except do not use your bare fingertip: Be sure to use an eyedropper. Ensure that the eyedropper you use will never be used for eye drops in the future: Either destroy and dispose of the eyedropper or mark it clearly. Acetone is abrasive and can cause injury or even blindness if it gets in your eyes. You can get acetone at most hardware or paint supply stores.
  
  

Alternatives

• Instead of thinning your Liquid Paper, consider simply buying a new bottle. Liquid Paper is inexpensive and available at any office supply store and most general merchandise retailers. You might consider using an alternative to Liquid Paper, such as dry correction tape. To use dry correction tape, you measure out a piece of the tape and apply it to the error on your paper. In addition to the fact that dry correction tape does not dry out like Liquid Paper, you can write on dry correction tape immediately rather than having to wait for it to dry.
