Zeitgeist the Movie - Dance of Confusion?
I watched "Zeitgeist the Movie" with great interest.
It touched upon much of what I have come to know about the power of religion to control and manipulate people in the name of God.
Regarding 9/11 and the facts behind that event, what is true and what is false? For those who do not trust the standard version as given by the national news media, that question will continue to be an agonizing dance of confusion that will keep them in perpetual unbalance.
It is so much easier to just believe that it was a terrorist act by outside enemies.
So much easier to keep it neat and tidy by not questioning inconsistencies.
The lazy mind needs an outside enemy to label and quantify what it does not want to grapple with.
And to be fair to the detractors of the movie, perhaps it's easier in our "paranoia" to blame the government, the "secret societies" that remotely pull the strings andthreaten to usurp all of our so-called freedoms.
The mind is very expert in creating phantoms either way.
No matter how many facts and scientific data are presented in proving, or disproving the 9/11 conspiracy, the use of misinformation will keep us in ongoing confusion and thus ambivalence (which is the best place to keep individuals if you want to control them, to keep them from acting and questioning).
I think there has been much withheld from the public, and so much misinformation and falsehoods injected in the 9/11 event.
It seems that the next big revolution will be in our collective efforts to dismantle our own fear-based thinking and belief systems, and to act according to free conscience.
I believe that until we do our own housecleaning (connecting and communicating with, understanding, and finally transmuting our own darkest fears), it will be very difficult to not continue walking in lockstep with the ongoing paradeof a world psyche so ensconced in fear and hate (even as we rail and gripe about the "dark forces").
Having lived in a monastery for so many years, I do understand the power of mythology and cultural belief systems to create mental prisons far stronger than metal and concrete.
In this mental prison, God will manifest in whatever form we find most endearing, whether in the form of Jesus, Krishna, Muhammad, Heavenly Father, Divine Mother, etc.
etc.
As beautiful, beatific and life-affirming these experiences can be, our attachment to the form and phenomena can just as easily keep us stuck in narrow confines of how we think God is and should be; insisting and constraining God to manifest in ways we deem acceptable.
Just as God can manifest in the way that is most beloved by us, so too our fears will manifest just as powerfully according to how our minds have come to believe and accept.
In a sense, 9/11 is aninside job, a tragically real and yet symbolic representation of our own twin towers, our dual nature of light and darkness and the battle that rages between heart and head, love and fear.
In this battle, both are razed to the ground; all dark beliefs and fears dismantled that out of the carnage may arise the Phoenix of an awareness of our own vast natures, and an understanding that we are Beings of incredible beauty and strength! The Universe is bringing us to the point wherein we are being forced to experience the death of our little selves, forced to look squarely in the face of all beliefs that no longer serve us so that we might step into the light of our Higher Selves.

"Zeitgeist the Movie challenges us to look beyond the veils of beliefs and assumptions we hold tightly to and to throw wide the curtains to observe the cultural climate that influences our every thought and action.
So far in the first part of this 21st Century, 9/11 seems to be the signature stamp for the Zeitgeist of our milieu: fear, terrorism, economic instability and uncertainty all seem to reverberate so strongly in our world view.
Perhaps it is not so different from the zeitgeist of past centuries, but the possibility to connect quickly and intimately with an international community makes our era quite unique and filled with great potential; and it seems that the very medium of the Internet is helping to bring this about.
