YTB and World Ventures - Comparison of Product Offerings - Part 2 of 3
To an outsider, YTB and World Ventures may look like very similar businesses.
They are both well known names in the home based travel industry, and from the aspect of the consumer, they do offer similar services.
However, from a business standpoint, the product offerings and the compensation plans differ.
YTB offers an RTA, Referring Travel Agent membership which allows you to arrange travel for yourself and others through an online website.
The search engine is powered by Travelocity and you make commission on your retail sales.
This no hassle website set up also offers an override commission paid to enrollers of RTAs when you opt for the Affiliate package which also includes pre-negotiated vacations at wholesale rates - a la Costo.
The affiliate plan also includes a multi-level aspect.
The investment for this total package is $499.
90 plus $49.
99 monthly.
They also have another plan for non-profit organizations, which allow for discounts on group travel.
This plan offers no commission to the organization and works for groups like traveling youth sports teams.
World Ventures has 2 Memberships to choose from.
The first is called "DreamTrips" which give its members the opportunity to choose from pre-negotiated trips at wholesale rates.
There is no commission made on trips because this membership was designed as a personal travel club.
But the multi-level aspect may kick in for selling the membership, if you choose that option.
The cost is $199.
95 plus $19.
95 monthly.
The second membership is the LTC (Leisure Travel Consultant) package.
This membership is equivalent to YTB's RTA package except for the fact that the search engine, called "Power Search" searches several travel sites - such as Priceline, Expedia and Orbitz, simultaneously.
The investment for this package is $199.
99 plus $19.
99 monthly.
Both packages together cost $399.
94 plus $39.
94 monthly.
Lastly, for an additional $99.
99 plus $9.
95 per month, you can have the option of building a multi-level business.
You can invest into one or both plans, with or without the team building component.
The whole enchilada (both memberships with business building) will run you $499.
89 plus $49.
89 monthly.
These are just some of the differences in the product offerings - but in my opinion, the real comparison point is in the compensation program for each company.
That is coming up in the next installment.
Keep in mind, though, that both YTB and World Ventures require business building to realize a decent residual income, which involves hosting and attending home and hotel meetings.
If that's not your style, you may want to consider a business that concentrates more on internet marketing and can be totally automated.
Keep an eye out for part 3.
