Which Web Browser?

If you are a web designer then you will want to know which browsers to use to test your website or how to make it easier to test your websites in different browsers and if you are just a web browser then you might want to know what website browser will give you the best online experience.

If you are looking for the best online experience then Google Chrome is by far the most advanced browser these days and it is quickly growing in popularity as Google advertise the browser to ever IE user on their home page. Another good browser which I prefer to Chrome just because I am more use to it and I also like to way that the additional development tools work is Firefox. These are 2 good browsers and will give you a much better internet experience than IE for the fact that IE cant and wont show some of the nice features that the other 2 browsers are able to.

Now if you are a website designer or developer which one should you be using well it does depend on the person but I prefer to use Firefox for general browsing and for testing website. But the long of the short of it is you should have at least a good range of browsers on your computer to test each website that you build to make sure that it works no matter the browser. The selection of browsers that I test for is:

Google Chrome
Firefox
Safari
IE9, 8, 7
Opera

Google Chrome as it is a fast growing browser as Google is advertising it on all there highly hit websites this is why it is good to test for Chrome. It is also the browser that has adopted most of the CSS3 functions so it is also the browser that is able to display and do the most.

Firefox is a good browser by its self like Chrome is it constantly being updated and has a wide range of plug-ins that are built for web designers and developers to aid them in improving the websites that they are building. One of the best plug-ins is fire bug when you have installed this software for Firefox it will allow you to manipulate the HTML, CSS and Javascript code on the fly and see a working version on the page until you refresh the page. Other browsers have this function but it is not as powerful or easy to use.

Safari is apples version of an internet browser and as iPhones and iPads are really big things right now and people use them to browse the internet with their default browser safari it is worth making sure that your website looks good in safari.

IE9 if you use IE9 then you can use the development tools to view how the website will function in IE8 and IE7 this is very useful as each of these browsers are still the most popular and if you are using any CSS3 on your website you will notice that it will more than likely not display in at least IE8 and 7, however IE9 will display some basic CSS2/3 but not everything, by today's standards it is really out of date. IE10 is suppose to be round the corner but if it is not able to be updated as quickly as Firefox and Chrome then it to will be out of date pretty much when it gets launched.

Opera is the least used of all the browsers so you don't need to 100% test for this one. There is a fair chance that if it works in all the browsers then it will work in some sort of form in opera.
