4 Commandments For Parents
Few, if any, activities have greater potential to change the world in a positive way than Better Parenting.
In the swirl of everyday adult life -- work, in-laws, health, house payments, insurance costs, etc.
-- it can be challenging to do all the things that great parenting requires.
I am so busy that I am always looking for ways to fine-tune my parenting, which is very important to me.
In my quest to raise my children well, I did a ton of research and interviews, and then I developed the 12 COMMANDMENTS FOR PARENTS.
Due to space constraints, I am listing just 4 of the COMMANDMENTS in this article (with the remainder to come in future articles).
4 Commandments for Parents I.
Thou shall make parenting THE priority.
Great parents devote emotional energy to parenting.
And while you're at it, be the PARENT to your kids.
They already have friends.
II.
Thou shall be a good example to your kids.
This may be the most important thing you do as a parent.
III.
Thou shall punish your children with reason and a plan in mind -- not with anger in your heart and actions.
IV.
Thou shall make time for the family meal.
The dinner table is perhaps the most important place for passing on your family's values and teaching life's important lessons.
From where I stand, it doesn't take a village.
It takes a family.
It takes a parent(s).
It means, "no excuses.
" Parenting is a tough job that you can love doing.
These Commandments can free you to become the best parent possible.
