Go Vegetarian and Lower Your Cholesterol Naturally
I recently read an article titled "Eight-Step Plan to Lower Your Cholesterol".
As you are aware from the many articles I have written on the subject of being vegetarian (please re-read my article titled: The Perils of Red Meat and Dairy - Go Vegetarian!) my cholesterol was starting to climb at age 50.
My journey led me to a pure vegan, Ironman/woman who explained to me that what I believed was a "pristine" diet needed serious fine tuning ("removal of all fish, poultry, meat and dairy) and to become a pure ""vegan".
My doctor, who is also a very close friend, said not to worry because I was in good shape.
My cholesterol kept slowly climbing until it was over 200.
Within 1 month going vegetarian, my cholesterol went from a high of 250 down to 158 which I now maintain.
My friends, you need to worry.
Your cholesterol is a "major" signal that things are not doing well in your arteries and "plumbing".
The longer you wait to do something, the longer you will delay the inevitable of the likelihood of becoming a severe health risk and facing a major heart attack and/or stroke.
You will become an "accident waiting to happen".
"The Eight-Step plan was written by a cardiologist and with all due respect, this doctor has gone through a lot of medical training to call herself an MD.
Unfortunately, that title does not make her an authority even though she believes she is.
In summary, the article had some good points; step: (1) Know your risk, know your numbers; (2) Talk to your doctor (3) Read the Labels; (4) Eat More Fish; (5) Try Some New Recipes; (6) Exercise; (7) Monitor Your Cholesterol; (8) Maintain a Healthy Weight.
But when step (7) said, "If cholesterol-reducing medication becomes necessary your doctor will tell you which ones are best and how often you should have your cholesterol checked.
" I immediately thought, here we go again, back to traditional Western medicine, when all else fails take medication!"Wrong! "Medication is the resort of failure.
And if you do steps (1) through (8) diligently as I did, plus exercise like a man with a purpose (most would call me a maniac), it will not work unless you go total vegetarian.
This is the reality and truth and I am only 1 of many who can testify to this fact.
I get so upset with these articles because they are written by a supposed "authority".
I would challenge this cardiologist to have her cholesterol checked and let me know if it is optimal at 150.
I'm sure her answer will be no and that if she needed medication, she would take it.
All she really has to do is explain to her patients and convince herself that by going vegetarian she and they will experience immediate results (I saw mine in 1 month!), not just in the lowering of their cholesterol but reduction in weight and improvement in their overall health and happiness!
