How to Hook Up Wastegate

    • 1). Locate the existing wastegate on the engine. This is a small valve sticking up from the main exhaust manifold or turbo attached to the side of the engine, and should be easily visible.

    • 2). Remove the four bolts connecting the wastegate to the turbo with the ratchet and appropriate socket. Unbolt and remove the up- and down-tubes from the stock wastegate's bypass ports and turbo. Use an adjustable wrench set if you have issues getting to the bolts with the ratchet. Normally, you will need a 10 millimeter wrench and socket for the task.

    • 3). Pull off the stock pressure hoses leading from the regulator and turbo body. Set these aside. Locate and pull off the red or black control wire.

    • 4). Bolt the new tubes supplied by the aftermarket wastegate manufacturer in place of the old set.

    • 5). Slide the new pressure hoses from the small regulator adjacent to the wastegate and the pressure fitting on the turbo. Normally, the turbo's hose slides onto the lower fitting on the wastegate, while the regulator attaches to the upper. Push on the control wire.

    • 6). Bolt the new wastegate into position. Start the vehicle. Rev the vehicle to approximately 4,000 rpms to test the smoothness of the boost function.
