- 1). Spread a few layers of old newspapers out on a flat working surface.

Remove the lid from the box. Paint the outside of the box and the lid with nontoxic acrylic paint. Allow the paint to dry. - 3
Put rub-on transfers on the bread box by rubbing them with a Popsicle stick, a stiff emery board or your thumbnail. - 4). Apply a thin coat of clear, nontoxic sealer over the outside of the box and the lid. Let it dry.
- 5). Apply a second coat of the sealer, and allow it to dry. This will not only protect your artwork but also make the bread box easier to clean.
