How to Write a Sympathy Card the Proper Way

    • 1). Write the card using black, blue or grey ink. Avoid using festive colors like red or purple.

    • 2). Write phrases that convey your message. Common messages for a sympathy card include;
      Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
      Please accept our deepest sympathies.
      We are thinking of you in this difficult time.
      We are sorry to hear of your loss.
      Please accept our condolences on the loss of (name)
      Our loving thoughts go out to you.

    • 3). Depending on how close you are to the deceased, you may want to add an extra message indicating how much you will miss them. For example:
      (Name) was a dear friend and I will miss her greatly.
      I remember many good times spent with (name) and she will be very missed.

    • 4). Be sure to include your last name when signing the sympathy card.
