How to Find a College Roommate in Gainesville, Georgia

    • 1). Place an ad in the Gainesville Times. Not only can you place an ad looking for a roommate, you can also search people looking for roommates, as well. When writing your ad, be very specific about the kind of roommate you're looking for. For example, don't simply say you want a roommate when you're looking for a "female college student, age 19-22, non-smoker, without pets."

    • 2). Visit the Gainesville State College website and click on "Off-Campus Housing" under Campus Life for those attending GSC. From there you can search all of the students at GSC who need roommates. You can also click on "Click Here to add a New Housing Ad" just above the listing to submit your ad for a roommate.

    • 3). Log onto the Brenau University Blackboard, Brenau University E2Campus System and/or Brenau University LiveText systems if you attend college at Brenau. These systems will help you get in touch with fellow classmates looking for roommates. You can also send out a message through Blackboard, E2Campus or text through LiveText to let your peers know you're looking for a roommate.

    • 4). Utilize social networking sites. The Brenau University and Gainesville State College Facebook pages get in touch with fellow students. You can post an ad for a roommate on the Wall of the page and get email alerts when someone responds. If you do not attend either of these schools, you can simply look up your university's Facebook page and post an ad on the school's Wall.

    • 5). Post a status update on your social networking site. Most people are "friends" with hundreds of people on sites like MySpace, Twitter, Facebook and similar sites. With your friends and your friends' friends, you are really in contact with thousands of different people. Send out a friendly status update saying that you're looking for a roommate. Chances are, you and one of your friends will know someone who is also looking for a roommate.

    • 6). Find a roommate on roommate matching sites like Roommatescom, RoommateLocator.com and GetARoomie.com. You can type in the kind of roommate you're looking for and view different profiles. Once you find a few that you like, you can send them a semi-anonymous email to get some information before you meet.
