- 1). Load a carbide cutting bur into the high-speed hand-piece.
- 2). Turn on the high-speed suction. Hold it directly next to the crown being removed. Catch any gold dust that flies off during removal.
- 3). Cut a slit into the front and back side of the crown until the metal has been broken through. Be careful not to drill into tooth structure.
- 4). Pry off the shell of gold crown using the dental spoon. Scrape off any remaining excess cement with the dental spoon.
