Canada introduced proposal to control fraud international students and human trafficking

Each and every country is trying to handle immigration frauds. Canada is going to introduce a new proposal to handle bogus international students. In this proposal, Federal government is trying to weed out international students who arrive on a student visa as a means of gaining access to Canada's labor market and don't actually enroll in school.

Canada has warned that anyone not found to be abiding by the rules of Canada student visas will be strictly punished.

Canada's immigration minister Jason Kenny said that there are number of international students who came here to study on Canada student visas but they go for employment opportunities in Canada. The institutes chosen by them are found to be quite below average standards. All this is proving damaging for Canada's reputation in the international student market.

The United Kingdom and Canada have introduced similar changes in the wake of widespread fraud within their student visa programs, Kenney said Canada is the only like-minded country that still has no checks to ensure those who arrive on student visas are actually enrolled at legitimate institutions.

That is why Canada is introducing this new proposal. According to this new proposal, the provinces have to submit the list of credible post-secondary institutions which should benefit from the student visa program so that Canada should be able to distinguish between legitimate schools and average or bogus schools.

Those institutes which are not present in the list will not be able to enroll international students. Student visas will be issued on the condition that individuals enroll in and pursue studies at an approved institution.

Human trafficking is also the one of the most major issues to worry about. Recent convictions of human trafficking have mostly involved victims who are citizens and/or permanent residents of Canada trafficked for the purpose of sexual exploitation.

According to new proposal, students are not allowed to work as dancers like other temporary foreign workers.

Investigations found that international sex workers are not necessarily recruited from overseas. Most foreign nationals that were found working as sex workers had entered Canada legally and looked for sex work after they arrived in Canada.

New rules will also mean international students who attend legitimate career colleges that are on the list will be able to obtain postgraduate work permits, which is not the case for most now.

This new proposal will surely be able to help Canada to handle flow of bogus immigrants.
