How to Build Totem Poles
- 1). Clean and dry five empty coffee cans that are all similar in size. Keep the plastic covers on all of the cans.
- 2). Use spray paint to paint the entire outside of each cans.
- 3). Paint five different animal or human faces onto each coffee can with acrylic paint.
- 4). Decorate the faces with colorful embellishments to include gems, pipe cleaners and buttons.
- 5). Cut holes into the bottoms and tops of the cans with a pair of scissors.
- 6). Place the cans onto a 3-foot wooden dowel so that they are stacked on top of each other.
- 7). Cut out a pair of paper wings and glue them to the third or fourth coffee can with a glue stick or regular glue.
- 8). Glue or tape craft feathers to the wings.
- 9). Insert the dowel in a potted plant or in the backyard.
