How to Build a Miniature Green House
- 1). Lay out the four boards with square ends into a rectangle that measures 2 feet by 4 feet. Drill a 3-inch deck screw through each end of the longer boards to secure the shorter boards between to create the rectangular frame.
- 2). Place a 2 foot by 4 foot piece of plexiglass on top of the frame and secure the plastic to the wood with a self-tapping screw. Place a screw into each corner of the frame. Place a screw every 12 inches along the frame to hold it tight.
- 3). Drive a 2 inch by 2 inch by 4 feet board into the ground with your hammer. Pound the board until only 3 feet of the stake is showing above ground. Hold your 2-foot level against the sides of the wood after each couple of hammer blows to ensure a completely upright stance.
- 4). Measure with your tape measure from your stake to a point 4 feet away. Drive a second stake so that the outside to outside measurement of the two stakes is 4 feet. Drive a third and fourth stake 2 feet from the first 2 pieces of wood to complete the rectangle. Space the stakes so that the tops of your stakes rest just inside of the finished panel when it is placed on top of the upright boards.
- 5). Secure a piece of plexiglass to each side of your staked frame with your drill and self tapping screws. Place a screw 1 inch up from the level of the ground on each stake. Place a screw 1 inch down from the top of each stake. Place a screw through the plexiglass and into the wood at 12-inch intervals, giving you 4 screws up each post.
- 6). Place the loose panel on top of the ground structure. Lay a brick on top of each corner to hold the lid on tight. Place a brick under each corner to add airflow into the greenhouse. Cover the structure (or part of the structure) with a tarp to introduce shade into the greenhouse. Remove the lid, place potted plants into the greenhouse and close it up to grow your plants.
