How to Remove a Carpet Threshold

    • 1). Insert the tip of a pry bar between one end of the lip of the threshold and the carpet, then lift the edge of the threshold with the pry bar.

    • 2). Raise the entire length of the lip of the threshold with the pry bar, working in 6-inch increments.

    • 3). Pull the edge of the carpeting away from the threshold with pliers to avoid inadvertently rubbing against the threshold’s tacks.

    • 4). Insert the tip of the pry bar between the edge of the threshold and the underlying floor, then pry the bar upward to pull the threshold nails out of the floor and to release the threshold.
