Home Remedy for Iron Scorch
- Soak a rag in hydrogen peroxide, and squeeze out the excess liquid. Place the rag on top of the scorched fabric on an ironing board, and iron the rag with a medium-hot iron. Repeat the process until the stain comes out. This method works best on cotton and linen fabrics.
- Immerse the freshly scorched fabric into a vat of very cold water, and allow it to soak overnight. The stain should disappear after 24 hours. This method works on fabrics that have only recently been scorched.
- Soak a rag or sponge in white vinegar, and dab at the scorch mark until it fades. Continue the process of soaking and dabbing until the scorch mark goes away. Wash the garment to remove the vinegar smell before wearing it.
- Rub the scorched fabric with lemon, and allow it to dry in the sun for several hours. Rinse, and repeat the process if necessary. Be careful not to get the lemon juice on unstained portions of the fabric, as it will bleach any area it comes into contact with and create further spotting.
