How to Share a Cable Modem Connection

    • 1). Plug one end of the first Ethernet Cable into the computer network adapter. Plug the other end of this cable into Port 2 on the router.

    • 2). Plug one end of the second Ethernet cable into the "computer" port on the cable modem. Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into the "Uplink" or "WLAN" port on the router.

    • 3). Turn on the computer and insert the router setup CD. Run the setup program. When prompted, enter the router username and password (see "Tips"). Go through the setup program, then click "Finish" when the setup program has completed running.

    • 4). Open a web browser window. Enter a website into the address bar (such as www.yahoo.com or www.cuil.com). If the web browser does not display the web page, check the Ethernet cable connections and verify that these connections are snug.
