How to Replace a Toshiba E740 Screen

    • 1). Turn off your Toshiba E740 and remove the back battery cover by sliding it off the bottom of the phone. Lift the battery out of its compartment and set aside.

    • 2). Remove the two screws on the top of the back panel of the E740 with your Phillips screwdriver.

    • 3). Turn the unit upside down and remove the two screws at either corner of the bottom of the device. Turn the unit right-side up and remove the two screws on either corner of the very top panel of the device. Remove the top panel and set aside.

    • 4). Insert the tip of your case opener tool in the seam between the back panel and front housing. A case opener can be purchased at any electronics store.

    • 5). Work your way along the side of the device until three tabs have been popped up and released. Now remove the back panel from the device. The green motherboard will now be exposed.

    • 6). Lift the tab on the top left side of the motherboard to free it from the housing. Remove the motherboard from the housing, but be careful because it is still connected by LCD ribbons.

    • 7). Unplug the two orange LCD connector ribbons from the right side of the motherboard. The motherboard is now completely free of the device. Set it aside.

    • 8). Remove the LCD screen from the front housing and replace with a new screen (available from your Toshiba retailer or online) and reassemble the Toshiba E740 in the reverse order you took it apart.
