    Minimum Salary

    • The Texas Education Agency sets a minimum starting salary school districts are required to pay educators. Minimum starting salaries are based on years of experience. Teachers with no experience earn a starting salary of $2,732 monthly or $27,320 per year. Those with five years of experience earn a starting salary of $3,156 monthly or $31,560 per year. Teachers with 10 years of experience earn a starting salary of $3,704 monthly or $37,040 per year. Those with 20 or more years of experience earn a starting salary of $4,427 monthly or $44,270 per year.

    Kindergarten and Elementary

    • The BLS classifies kindergarten and elementary school teachers separately, with the exception of special education teachers. Kindergarten teachers in Texas earned an annual mean wage of $47,460. Elementary school teachers earned an annual mean wage of $49,970.

    Middle and High School

    • The annual mean wage for middle school teachers in Texas was $50,350. High school teachers earned an annual mean wage of $52,270. Vocational teachers in middle school earned an annual mean wage of $50,820 and in high school, vocational teachers earned an annual mean wage of $52,390.

    Special Education
