The Child Abuse Hotline

• Call 877-401-8395 to donate your car to children in need. You also have the option to fill out the Child Abuse Hotline's online donation form. Have your vehicle's basic information handy, such as make, model, vehicle identification number and current mileage. A representative of the Child Abuse Hotline will arrange for an Anchorage towing agency to pick up your used car. Hand the driver your signed car title when he arrives. Once your used vehicle is sold, you will receive a receipt in the mail. Use this receipt to take a deduction on your taxes.
  
  

Donation Line

• Fill out Donation Line's vehicle donation form (see Resources), or call them directly at 877-227-7487. Donation Line allows you to select which charity you want to receive the proceeds of your donation. Within 48 hours, a representative for Donation Line will contact you to arrange the optimum time to pick up your used car. Have your title ready when they arrive. Six weeks after your car is donated, you will receive a receipt from the charity that is benefiting from your donation.
  
  

Habitat for Humanity

• Donate your car to Habitat for Humanity if you want your donation to help low-income families. Habitat accepts cars through Cars for Homes. You can fill out their donation form (see Resources), or call them at 877-277-4344. You must inform Cars for Homes of your car's condition as well as any known problems that the car may have. Cars for Homes picks-up car within two to three days of your contacting them. A valid car title is required. After your car sells, you will receive a receipt. The IRS allows you to deduct $500 or the sale price of the car if it is higher.
  
  

Give Cars

• Contact Give Cars at 877-327-1229. Give Cars funds Teddy Bear Cops, which hand out teddy bears to children who are facing a crisis. You can also contact them via their online donation form. Give Cars will handle all of the paperwork for you as long as you have a lien-free car title. They will arrange for your car to be towed, and they will send you a receipt for tax purposes once your car sells.
